Very disappointed fan August 30, 2010 Lynsey Tate (Illinois, USA) I love period pieces but this one is a disaster. The scenery is lovely and there are lots of pretty dresses but if you want anything more I recommend passing on "The Inheritance". I haven't read the original so I don't know how true it was to Alcott, but the plot in this is so melodramatic it's farcical, and the screen adaptation so silly that it is very difficult to muster an iota of sympathy for any of the characters. One big yawn from start to finish. The impromptu neighborhood productions my little sister and her friends used to ad lib when they were 9 years old were more original and better written and acted. I can hardly blame the actors for their tepid performances - even they don't seem sufficiently inspired to get into the story, although Meredith Baxter and Thomas Gibson put in a noble effort. Save your time and your money.
A little disappointing July 15, 2010 J. Ransom It really wasn't what I imagined it would be. The characters were portrayed quite differently than they were in the novel. The story line was in parts also dramatically different which resulted in the deletion of some key characters. If you haven't read the book then you probably wouldn't know the difference and might find the story to be quite cute, but if you have read the book you will probably be a kind of disappointed just as I was. I am glad that I didn't pay more than $7 for it.
Outstanding Film July 5, 2010 Supreme Graphics A surprising film that catches you off guard at its quality and outstanding performances of all the actors. The amount of romantic passion in this film shows just how good the chemistry is between the two leading actors. This inspirational story brings a new level of class back into true movie making. It's nice to know that great films like this are still being made. I look forward to more movies with this lead. Her ability to represent elegance and poise shows a level of acting that is both enjoyable and inspiring.
The Inheritance June 22, 2010 LIZ I ordered this as a gift for a friend & she just loved it! Great product & service! Thanks!
Over simplified and derivative June 18, 2010 confined mom Scenes from endless books and movies come to mind as this drama plays out, with little depth beyond the first label applied to each character. There is little conversation or activity that would preclude a broad audience, but some scenes are less than modest. The tags at the end of the movie are even less convincing. I may keep the DVD around for someone to borrow when sick, but won't find myself watching it again. It just wouldn't be a second-look movie for me.
I was hooked by the author's name, but the DVD doesn't reflect her body of work. This plays more like a video term paper on dramatic cliches.
